KING CUP SARDINES Joins Operation Bayanihan

Last February, GMA Kapuso Foundation together with KING CUP SARDINES, which is being produced by PERMEX Producer and Exportation Corporation plus other food and hygiene companies did an Operation Bayanihan.

It was last January that most of the municipalities in Mindanao particularly Agusan, Butuan and Caraga were affected by non-stop rain which resulted to flood including the overflowing of Agusan River.

This has brought damage not only to the roads, fields, root crops, but most specially to the houses of our fellow Filipinos. Because of this, GMA Kapuso Foundation was the first Non-Government Organization (NGO) who extended their help and distributed relief goods particularly to the barangays in Butuan like Brgy. Baan, Sagunto and Halapitan, and Brgy. Nuevo Trabajo in San Luis, Agusan del Sur. Extended help was also given most specially to those living beside Agusan River including the municipalities of Loreto and Banauan, San Francisco and Malimono in Surigao and to those confined in CARAGA Hospital.

Aside from preserving the country’s marine resources, PERMEX core values includes protecting the environment. This is why PERMEX feels so sorry for the disaster brought by the heavy rains which caused the flood and overflowing of Agusan River. And in line with the intention to help the Filipino people and give back because of the support that is being given to PERMEX, the said company didn’t think twice of giving ____ boxes of KING CUP SARDINES through GMA Kapuso Foundation.

Thousands of calamity-affected families were given relief goods by GMA Kapuso Foundation and KING CUP Sardines was one of those goods.

Last week, Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation arranged a press conference to announce the launch of its newest product, SarsayaÒ Oyster Sauce, and celebrity endorser, Mr. Coco Martin.

Two ladies, one is fund of cooking and the other is a mom who doesn’t cook, were asked to try to cook Ginisang Kangkong with Tokwa using SarsayaÒ Oyster Sauce. But who knew there is more to just a simple Ginisang Kangkong just by adding Two ladies, one is fund of cooking and the other is a mom who doesn’t cook, were asked to try to cook using SarsayaÒ Oyster Sauce. It turned out to be a new tasty, exciting, and easy to cook dish to serve to family ad friends!

Ginisarsayang Kangkong with Tokwa

1/4 cup cooking oil

1 square tokwa, sliced into cubes

2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced

1/2 small size onion, thinly sliced

1 bundle (approx. 200 grams) kangkong, separate leaves and stalks

2 tbsps./30g pack SarsayaÒ Oyster Sauce


1. Fry tokwa until lightly brown. Set aside tokwa and sauté garlic and onion on the same 


2. Add kangkong stalks and stir-fry for about 30 seconds, put kangkong leaves and fried

     fried tokwa. Continue stir-frying.

3. Add SarsayaÒ Oyster Sauce. Mix and stir-fry for 1 minute. Serve hot.

Pancit Canton


3 tablespoons cooking oil

5 cloves garlic, chopped

1 small size onion, chopped

1/4 kilo liempo, sliced into thin strips

3 cups water

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

1/4 kilo pancit canton, soaked and drained

1/2 cup chicharo, trimmed

1/2 cup carrot strips

1 small bell pepper, cut into strips

2 cups cabbage, shredded

4 tablespoons SARSAYAÒ Oyster Sauce

1. Heat oil in a large pan or wok, sauté garlic and onion until fragrant.

2. Add meat slices and sauté until lightly brown.

3. Add water and pepper. Bring to boil and simmer until meat is tender.

4. Add pancit canton and mix well.

5. SARSAYAÒ Oyster Sauce AND VEGETABLES. Mix and cook for about 2 minutes.

6. Serve while hot.
Makes 6-8 servings.

A Pocketful of Hugs

Just like any other mom I’m always on the lookout for healthy snacks for my kids. I want to be healthy and filling and affordable is always a plus. So I was excited when Gardenia sent me a small box so my kids can try it.

Even our cat wanted to get into the action. As much as he wanted to taste it my kids wouldn’t allow him to do so.

Just like any typical siblings my kids love to play but their kind of play is different from other kids I guess it’s because of their age difference. My son has a hard time with games that require him to run and my daughter doesn’t like games that would make her sweat. I also discourage my kids from playing with gadgets so i think the claw machine game is perfect medium.

After a challenging game they rest and enjoy their new found snack which Pocketful Sandwich from Gardenia which comes in two variants Chocolate and Peanut Butter.

Mc Donald’s Mushroom Pepper Steak

Finally, McDonald’s Philippines is now serving its very first burger steak meal: the all-new Mushroom Pepper Steak. Dense, relatively thick burger patties covered in a thick, creamy, savory white sauce stippled with black pepper.. 

I’ve been seeing McDonald’s New Mushroom Pepper Steak on TV commercials and it was quite hard to ignore. It definitely got my attention. I got an invitation to attend the launch and I just had to grow and it made me crave for rice.

During the launch McDo’s Mushroom Pepper Steak smelled terrific and it did not disappoint. McDonald’s sauce was a pleasant surprise for us. It was creamy and delivered on its peppery promise with a strong but not overpowering black pepper kick. The mushrooms went well with it, too. Although, they didn’t necessarily add much to the overall flavor of the sauce. The amount of sauce was just right. The meat wasn’t drowning in it, but we didn’t find it lacking, either. 
The beef patties are thick and meaty. The sauce is as promised — creamy, peppery, and seasoned just right. The pepper gives it a touch of heat which nicely cuts the sauce’s richness. The mushrooms, of course, complement it nicely.

McDonald’s Mushroom Pepper Steak is a great addition to their menu, giving everyone who’s not in the mood for the usual McDo offerings a delicious option. In addition, it’s budget friendly too. A 1-pc meal costs P55 and a 2-pc meal costs P89.
