3 Ways that organic tea is better than other kinds

Organic tea is basically a type of tea that is free from chemicals. Certified organic tea leaves are grown without herbicides, pesticides, and artificial fertilizers that compromise the health quality of your tea. Tea comes from a plant species called Camellia sinensis. There are 4 types of tea: white, green, oolong, and black.

White tea is the rarest kind, as they’re made from young tea leaves that take a lot of time to harvest. It’s usually more expensive because the yield is very small. Green tea is perhaps the most popular, due to its numerous health benefits. It’s a mild type of tea that comes from the leaf bud and the top two leaves. Unlike black tea, it isn’t fermented and oxidized, leaving the leaves preserved and its beneficial compounds intact. Oolong is popular in China, and is made by moderately fermenting tea leaves. Finally, black tea is the strongest in taste. It goes through a complex fermentation process where the leaves are withered, partially fermented, and dried. Continue reading »

4 Myths about coffee that you never knew about

To most people, coffee is life itself, well not in the literal sense of the word! Coffee helps stimulate the brain in the morning, help people stay warm in cold weather, and even help keep the brain active when working late in the night. Basically, a cup of coffee is an essential to many people. However, like every other product out there, there are numerous myths surrounding coffee. Some of these myths exaggerate the importance of coffee, while others border on fear-mongering. To help you enjoy your cup of coffee without such distractions, let’s go through 4 myths about coffee that you never knew about.

1. Coffee can trigger heart disease

You have probably never heard of this myth, otherwise you wouldn’t be cheerfully enjoying your daily dose of coffee. However, let this myth not scare you. There is no research proving that coffee indeed causes heart disease. Of the many researches that have been conducted on this subject, none has come up with results showing a correlation between coffee and heart disease. It’s probably a myth that came from people who just don’t like coffee, and would like everyone else to join them.

2. Coffee can lead to stunted growth

Most people don’t know of this myth, or they heard of it in childhood but forgot about it. According to this myth, when a child takes coffee, it slows down bone formation. But before you rush to disqualify your 5 year old from taking coffee ever again, just realize that there is no research showing any correlation between stunted growth and coffee.  It is probably a myth that was started by people looking to market other beverages.

3. Coffee can help you lose weight

If you struggling with weight issues, you will most likely love this myth because it is actually true. That’s because one you of the things that coffee does to your body is drive up the metabolic rate. A faster metabolism means that your body breaks up calories faster, and lose weight in the process. On top of that, taking coffee does reduce your appetite. The combination of a faster metabolic rate, and a reduced appetite means that you will lose weight faster than if you are not taking coffee. Of course you have to work out and eat healthy too, for you to realize the full benefits of coffee.

4. Coffee can help slow down age-related ailments

This is probably one of the myths about coffee that has been there for a while, but was not yet proven. Now there is emerging research showing that coffee can help reduce the chances of getting Parkinson’s disease. There is also some research showing that it can slow down the onset of Alzheimer’s. To increase your chances of a healthier and longer life, maybe it’s time to start taking coffee, if you are yet to join the coffee bandwagon. You can get some of the best coffee from Tea and Coffee, and won’t regret it.

Buyer’s Guide to finding the right oven for your modern kitchen

Beko introduces safe, smart features to cook your meals

Ovens are must-haves in any modern kitchen. Their innovative functions and features only not ensure that meals are made quickly, efficiently and safely but that these appliances make your kitchen attractive as well.

According to Dyeun Zapanta, Sales and Marketing Head of Beko Philippines, today’s modern kitchen is all about the efficiency, sleek design, and functionality of your appliances. As most of us spend some time and effort preparing meals for the family, it is important to find the right cooker that can address your very specific needs.

To help you find the right choice, Beko, one of the Europe’s largest and most popular appliance brands, listed some of key things to consider when buying a new oven.

 Size and Capacity

If you are re-designing your kitchen or thinking of upgrading your built-in cooker, the size and capacity should be the first things you should consider. This factor is important since there are different kinds of oven sizes to choose from.

For instance, if you need an oven to carry out most of your everyday cooking, the built-in Single Ovens are the ideal cooker for you. With their 60cm height, you can place them anywhere in your kitchen. This oven is also perfect for families who don’t have enough kitchen space for double ovens but still want to get the benefits of capacity cookers. Beko’s range of single ovens come in 65L to extra-large 82L capacities.

However, not all kitchens are spacious so if yours isn’t, Beko’s Compact Ovens can be the ideal option. With its 45cm height, you can place it in between your cabinet columns without taking much of the space. This cooker is just the right size and has a 40L capacity

If you happen to have a large kitchen, Beko’s Double Ovens are the best choice especially if you like preparing multiple dishes at once. These ovens can be built-in to your kitchen’s cabinet columns. It comes in a 72cm and 90cm height model and its double oven capacities are also great for multiple cooking with its 48L and 65L capacity, respectively.

After deciding on the size and capacity, it’s time to think about which type of oven you need. There are three types of ovens to choose from namely, conventional, fan, and multi-functional ovens.

Conventional ovens are ideal for traditional home cooks. This type of oven allows for a conventional-style of cooking since the heat comes from the top and bottom heating elements and does not have a fan to circulate the heat.

Fan ovens, on the other hand, are best for baking or if you often cook dishes that require even temperature. With fan ovens, the heat is distributed evenly throughout the entire cooking compartment using either single or multiple fans.

And if you’re a home cook who enjoys experimenting with different cooking methods, the Multi-function oven is right for you. It can be used for grilling, defrosting, or baking and with more functions, you can cook any dish you like.

Easy-to-clean feature

Another feature you should consider is the self-cleaning feature. While you may enjoy cooking, let’s face it, cleaning the oven after using it can be a hassle.

Beko integrated self-cleaning features in its line-up of cookers to help cut your cleaning time. Its Pyrolytic Self Cleaning™ and SimplySteam Cleaning™ features clean away unwanted dirt, germs and food debris quickly and thoroughly so you spend more time with your family and less time cleaning up.

The 120-minute Pyrolytic Self-cleaning cycle function helps burn stubborn stains into a fine ash by safely heating your oven to 500 °C. The ash can then be simply wiped away with a piece of cloth, without the need of any detergents or chemicals. For ovens that are not too dirty ovens, you can use the shorter 90-minute eco-pyrolytic cycle. The 90-minute cycle saves 25 percent of energy consumption.

Some Beko ovens also have the SimplySteam Cleaning™ technology that cleans using steam. After using, simply remove the accessories, pour some water into the tray and place it at the bottom level of the cooker. Then, set the operation knob to start the steam cleaning process. Once the cycle is done, you can now wipe away all the dirt inside using a clean cloth.

Extra features

The last factor that you should consider when buying an oven is the range of extra features that come with it. Beko’s line-up of ovens offer a handful of modern and practical features, such as the Split&Cook feature that allows you to split the oven into two separate cooking zones so you can have two different temperatures without mixing the scents and flavors of your dishes; the Multi-Dimensional Cooking feature that cooks evenly and efficiently through the use of multiple dishes that traps its own supply of hot air enabling you to cook homogeneously and with maximum efficiency; and Safety features such as Gas Safety and Flame Failure that automatically cut off the gas flow when the fire is accidentally extinguished by the wind or any liquid, thereby, preventing gas leakage.

Zapanta further said, “Beko has since innovated numerous features for our cooker line-up. This is our way to ensure that you can take advantage of all the latest technologies that make every day cooking a truly enjoyable experience.”

Strengthening its local presence in the country, Beko Philippines continues to penetrate the Filipino market. Since 2015, the company already doubled its distribution, as well as tripled its sales through an enhanced and domineering product line that continuously meets the demands of the consumers.

Grocery Shopping Made Easy with Easy Grocery

When I was in the United States I was totally dependent on online grocery shopping I felt as if my life depended on it. I was always shipping that someone would create an app that would be apt for the Philippine market. I was really excited to be available to try this app.

These are the same exact dilemmas of Easy Grocery President and Developer Mr. Eugene Leoncio described on how he came up with the perfect solution, the Easy Grocery App! He wants his wife to have the easiest, most flexible way to grocery so she won’t have to queue in lines, forgot items, surpass the budget nor literally skip the shopping because she’s either too tired, too busy, or both.

Easy Grocery is a location-based app where customers can purchase grocery items and have it delivered to their doorsteps. It is practically grocery-shopping without leaving the comforts of your home or anywhere you may be.

All you need is your smartphone, an internet connection. Grocery shopping finally made easy with Easy Grocery App.

How to Easy Grocery

1) Download the App from App Store or Googleplay Store

2) Set your delivery location

3) Select your delivery location

4) Pay using Credit Card, Cash or PayPal

5) Choose your delivery option: Store Pickup or Home Delivery

6) Wait for your grocery.

Payment options:

(1) Credit/Debit card

(2) COD, Cash on Delivery

(3) Earned Points

Another reason why Easy Grocer is ahead of its competitors is the fact that once you signed up, you are automatically eligible for earned points every time you do your shopping via their app. One complete grocery transaction is equal to a point that you could collect and use as payment!

Things To Know About Easy Grocery App

No Price Mark Up

Price is the same in the app and in leading groceries. This is definitely a win-win situation for shoppers because they get the same SRP but less the challenge of going to the grocery.
Different Payment Options

Currently, Easy Grocery is accepting credit and debit cards, cash on delivery and points earned through the app.

Provides Real-Time Data

As providing convenience is one of the priorities of Easy Grocery, the app sends notifications to its customers so they know the status of their order. The application is equipped with GPS tracker that enables the customers to get real-time data. What’s cool is that shoppers can also contact their riders.

Out Of Stock Notification

The Easy Grocery app will send a notification if the item is not in stock. A runner will also contact you to give you options.

Easy Grocery’s Mission is to provide convenience, quality service and a “no-worries” grocery shopping and grocery. And although they are only currently available for shoppers in the Metro, with their vision to be one of the leading grocery delivery services in Asia, they are on their way to expand their territory!

One of Easy Grocery’s objective is to be able to provide its customers with a wide variety of supermarket options. It is for this reason that they do not have a tie-up with any particular supermarket. They also as mentioned earlier do not mark up products, so how do they earn? Honestly, just by their runners and riders fees.

Runner’s fee is a fixed Php 100.00. Runner/s are trained personnel who will act as buyers of your orders from the store you have chosen – SM Supermarkets, Ayala Metromarkets, Robinson’s Rustan’s, and Puregold to name a few.

Just a few observations :

1. Search buttons are definitely needed for this app. It’s a bit tricky to be scrolling up and download A search button would have made my life easier when I was testing the app,

2. Please sell Rice because that was the first item that I looked for when I was looking and exploring the app.

3. Please add more inventories because it’s really lacking. I have cats and I looked for cat food and it wasn’t available.

4. Please add more grocery affiliates as I wanted items from Shopwise , Cash and Carry or even Waltermart

5. Please make chat button with staff easier to use as that was really a challenge I got two notifications about the items that I ordered and I really had a hard time because I couldn’t read the messages right away. It took me 15 minutes to figure out that part.

Try Easy Grocery right now! Download the app on Apple Store or Google Play!

Ramen Nagi Opens Latest Branch in Nuvali

I admit it, I’m a bit Ramen crazy these days. And who could blame me? They’re big bowls of warmth, love and joy! In short, reliable comfort food. You just know that you’ll feel sufficiently full after one bowl of ramen.

Ramen Nagi originally hails from Tokyo, and they also have stores in Hong Kong. They first opened their Manila branch last December 2013 in SM Aura and the rest as they say is history.

Ramen Nagi is one of the most popular ramen shop in Japan. Few years back, they brought the yummy goodness in the Philippines. Last September 23, 2017, they recently opened a new branch in Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The event was exclusive for food bloggers, distinguished guests and other key stakeholders. The branch formally opened the following day to the general public.

I was handed a menu together with a funky, red pencil and was asked to encircle my choices. You can customize the richness of the broth, the “special sauce”, garlic intensity, pork section, spiciness, even the firmness of the noodles.

How awesome! That was great because I have a very low tolerance for spicy food, and on the other hand, I personally like soft, almost soggy noodles. OR you can just put a check on Chef Recommendation box and let them do all the work for you.

You can also indicate if you want certain add-ons like egg or seaweed. With its servings of authentic Japanese Ramen, Ramen Nagi could very well be a sanctuary for all noodle lovers.

Their Nuvali store is located at Solenad 2 Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna (just near the newly built Ayala Mall, facing the national road going to Tagaytay).
